The Man Behind the Scenes

Mark McAnelly, President of Mark McAnelly Enterprises Inc., grew up in San Diego, CA and has been around the construction field since he was 13 years old, building custom homes with his uncle. His first contracting business was started at the age of 19, which was McAnelly Construction Company. In 1993 he established Southwest Landscape which focused on landscape design construction and installation of complete landscapes, using no sub contractors.

Mark has developed his business over the years and is well known throughout the landscape and lighting industries. Mark feels by having a smaller company and working in the field supervising with his crews he can offer his clients better quality and service.

Mark has received many awards both locally and statewide over the years for his companies excellence in creating beautiful landscape projects as well as providing safety and security through the proper installation of landscape lighting.

Mark finds his humanitarian awards are the most rewarding.Mark has always felt the need to be a part of the industry association. He has been a CLCA for many years and has been a board member for the past 6 years, and currently resides as the Director of Membership. Mark is also active with the BIA, and AOLP. To keep up to date with the always changing regulations, products, and methods of installation.

Mark is the past President of the National City Rotary Club (2006-2007), and has been a 100% attendance member since 2001 when he joined. Mark is currently the 2007-2009 President of The Thousand Smiles Foundation. Mark has been with Thousand Smiles since 1989, providing construction expertise, facility maintenance, among many other responsibilites with the foundation. He is also a Ramona Chamber Ambassador, where he meets every month with his fellow Ambassadors to plan and promote community events for the beautiful town of Ramona.Mark helps promote the Orange Crate Derby Races in Chula Vista, sponsored by the local Lions Club.

He is an IRT volunteer and supporter, where he has worked on projects in Tecate and San Quintin, Mexico as well as big supporter of the annual Gala. He is often called on by local media for stories or assistance relating to his industry. Mark’s work has been published in many local, state, and national magazines. On a more personal note, he enjoys spending time with his 9 year old son who also enjoys his hobby of off road racing.
